Getting around Delft

Public transit is moderately accessible for wheelchair users. Most buses should be accessible for wheelchair users but mobility scooters are not permitted. Some but not all tram lines are accessible. However, Delft is a small city (max 5km/3miles from corner to corner), extremely bike-friendly, and most street crossings have curb cuts, so mobility device users may find it easiest to navigate the streets directly rather than using transit.

Food

During the conference days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) there will be lunch for everybody in the Aula. A seated dinner will be held on Wednesday evening in the city center at a wheelchair-friendly venue. There will be a variety of food available for vegetarians, and we will not serve pork. During registration, you will be able to specify: Vegan, Gluten allergy, Lactose intolerance, Nut allergy, Other. Please note that our caterers are not equipped to provide halal or kosher food.

Assistance at the Conference

Assistants or companions for attendees with disabilities need to register for the conference, but are eligible for a reduced companion rate. Requests for companion registration should be submitted to rss24accessibility@gmail.com before the early registration date.

The hostess or front desk staff in Central Hall will gladly assist you in finding the right room. Visitors who need special assistance can request help from a student volunteer. Some student volunteers will be available at the conference, but requests for dedicated assistance from a student volunteer should be submitted to the accessibility chairs before the early registration deadline.

Arrangements for Presenters with Accessibility Needs

The session presentations will take place on the stage at the Auditorium. The stage is raised with stairs. The presenters will stand at a podium. If you are presenting and the stairs present a problem, please contact the accessibility chairs as soon as possible so we can explore alternative arrangements.

Induction Loops

The plenary sessions will be in the Auditorium. In Section D of the Auditorium, a hearing loop has been installed. A listener with a hearing aid or cochlear implant can use the hearing loop by setting the device to the ‘T’ position.

Microphones

Microphones will be used for both speakers and for the question-and-answer sessions.
